As good as Dremel but better value for your money
Well what a great tool for the price.Easily as good as Dremel in as far as quality but probably better as you get alot more for your money. The torch attachment and flexi are very handy.I have not used the vice.
You get a few tool bits which are useable but not great quality.I recommend buying the 100 piece dremel kit with the Skil rotary tool.The tool itself has variable speeds good for precision jobs.To buy all this kit with the Dremel name would cost over a hundred pounds.
I have had a Dremel but would not buy one again given the choice between Skil and Dremel. I have several Skil tools and have never had a problem with any of them.

Bought this as I wanted to a bit of PC case modding. I was thinking about buying a cheaper one but the promoising review above persuaded me to buy this.

Glad I did, the flexible end was really useful and helped getting into awkwards spots that any rotary tool would have trouble reaching.

There's alsoother intresting bits such as the torch which might come in handy. It also comes with the batteries for it. Another is the vice.

One thing though, if your going to be doing any cutting I recommend buying alot more cutting disks. The dremel only comes with 5 which really isnt enough for much. Go gentle on them as well.

Equal to or better than Dremel for less.
I recently purchased this model of Skil's rotary tool and have used it. It includes a small selection of bits, which frankly, are not particularly good quality. But this isn't the primary concern when buying such a tool, as you will always end up buying new bits to fit your projects, and if you use it often, will soon discover the difference between good and poor quality bits. A tool like this is purchased for how well it functions, and this is where I was quite pleased. It runs at about the same speeds as the Dremel, and handling it is much the same. Considering a price not much more than half Dremel's for the same thing and quality that appears to be at least equal, if not better, the Skil rotary tool is an excellent buy.

The small attached lamp that comes with it is a nice addition for shining a little extra spotlight on your work. The included flexible extension comes with a Dremel only if you pay extra or buy a kit that costs far more than twice this one.

It uses exactly the same kinds of bits and they are affixed in the same manner as with the Dremel, but there is one difference: I found it much easier to insert bits into the Skil rotary tool than I ever did with the Dremel, which often required much fiddling and often resulted in even more frustration.

It's wonderful to find some real competition in the rotary tool market, especially when you can get more for a lower price.

Dremel Rotary Tool 300 Series + 25 acces

The Dremel 300 is the first power tool in my toolbox in nearly 40 years of model making. Having used it twice I wonder how I ever done without it. It will not be used very often but when needed it excels.

I would recommend buying the optional multi-chuck (as I have) as this saves the need to change the collet for different sized accessories.

My only small gripe is that with the multi-chuck fitted the tool is slightly too long to fit in its storage case.

Highly recommended.

Dremel 300
Anyone reading the other review might get the impression that the Dremel 300 is supplied with a chuck and not collets. This is not the case. I can only assume having just bought one that the chuck has to be purchased separately.

The Dremel Solution to Small-Medium Sized Projects
I recently purchased the Dremel 300 + 25 Accessories kit to replace my ageing Dremel Multi 770 cordless drill, which was now lacking in power and stamina, and did not have the threadded interface required to accept accessories such as the #670 Mini-Saw attachment.

Dremel really do think of everything, and supply an amazing array of accessories and fittings to go with their drills. I purchased their Mini-Saw attachment primarily to solve a DIY problem involving cutting an acrylic bath panel, and have found this accessory to work very well. My only niggle with it, is the strange handling position you need to adopt (if you're right-handed!), pulling the saw towards you, rather than the more traditional pushing action. But this is a minor problem, and the saw performs well, giving a very clean cut in most woods and plastics.

But back to the 300-series-an excellent tool, supported by a huge array of accessories. I'm also glad to see they've now introduced a conventional chuck (#4486), which is easier than having to choose between 4 different sized collets. The 300 comes in a convienient plastic storage box, with allocated spaces for the most popular accessories, and a cubby-hole with a hinged lid for any other bits and pieces-although this could have been larger to accommodate some of the bulkier attachments such as the saw!

Dremel tools are excellent for those smaller jobs where a full-sized power tool would be just too big and clumsy, and while they may not be as powerful as their larger cousins, they more than make up for this with their high operating speed. I also like the no-nonsense numbering system for their accessories-you see the bit you need in the catalogue or online, note down the number, and go out and buy it-simple as that!

Supurb cut.
I couldn't believe what a nice cut this lawnmower delivers. But be prepared for the huuuuge amount of grass clippings you will have to cope with. This is the price to pay for an excellent cut, but it came as a shock to me the first time I used it!

Motor Burnt Out after 3 Uses!
I was initially very pleased with this item. It was easy to set up out of the box and the grass collection box was extremely good at picking up the cuttings. The lawn had a neat finish.

However, after only using it on 3 occasions, the motor packed up. On reading these reviews, I suspect there may be a design fault allowing grass cuttings to get into the mechanics somehow. I got a full refund and have settled with a Flymo.

Excellent Value
I purchased the mower in August. It is not only the best mower I have ever used, but is also excellent value for money. Not only does it cut the grass when wet; when most mowers would struggle, it cuts so even and and leaves the lawn looking well manicured with stripes. The edge cutting ability is superb. Overall rating excellent!

Great mower, make sure you buy some extra blades. mine hit a small rock and dented the blades, but with a few extra blades in the cupboard your safe. Our garden is 140 foot, so had to buy waterproof extension lead as bosch designed the product mainly for the small gardens in mind, nevertheless the leads are long.

Oh, it sucks!
Just bought this from Amazon and am wondering what all the fuss is about. Yes it sucks well, but there are so many downs its not really worth it. I bought it because I had heard it was such a great design but found this to be far from the the truth.

The vacuum is way too heavy, you need to be a weight lifter to use this thing efficiently (I'm a 6ft tall ex rugby playing man). The front of the vacuum is too bulky, it does not fit easily under anything including high fronted sofas and bookcases. There is no light on the front of the vacuum, come on Dyson it helps if you can see the dirt your picking up. Its very cumbersome and not easy to steer - not good for a space with lots of items, you know like most peoples houses. There's no kickstsand on the back of the vacuum, to tilt the machine I have to put my foot on the front of the vacuum, who's silly idea was that...uhhmm now where do you push a vacuum from. The handle is poorly designed and uncomfortable, and the attachment tools, my goodness what a complete waste of time and space. The stairs attachment is only 6 or 7 cm wide, well hey thats great if I want to spend all day cleaning my house. Also the stairs attachment has no pivot, so you spend your time contorting your back whilst cleaning - sorry Dyson but thats bloody useless to say the least. The whole idea of half disassembling the unit to use the accessories may appeal to you, but I like time saving efficient tools myself, you know the kind that make chores easy.

Now lets think of the positive points... oh the yellow bit on top is pretty! And oh it sucks! Sorry Dyson lovers its a definite thumbs down for the Dyson DC07.

Dust Buster
Firstly TOP marks to Amazon, (from whom the Dyson was purchased), for their usual excellent service. Order placed just before 1pm and delivered the following morning by 9pm.

This is the second DC07 we have owned. The last one was about five years old but was beginning to loose suction. Probably worn out due to having to cope with the residue from three dogs! A task it acomplished well. There are a few small cosmetic changes from our old 07 but otherwise it retains it's powerfull hooverability.

At Amazons price it's a real steal ...but just remember to keep all those filters clean to ensure a long and productive life.

Dyson DC07 Origin
Difficult to imagine how inefficient my other vacuum cleaners were until I powered up this "beast"!
The upright and the "wand" (the cylinder-like hose attachment) both removed quite dramatic amounts of dirt, dust, fluff and detritus from what I had imagined was a clean carpet.
I'm sitting staring in disbelief at the amount of stuff in the bagless dirt/rubbish container.
I recommend this machine.

Wait until you have to change the belt!
This is absolutley the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever bought. Very poorly designed from a maintenance point of view. Just try and change the belt (which is very easily snapped by such accidents as sucking up a sock, or carpet thread). Considerable strength is required to stretch the belt over the roller and spindle - not a job for those with delicate fingers. The noise is dangerously high pitched - almost sounding like a jet engine. The high pitched whine penetrates, and I am sure must be over the legal decibel level for household appliances. The wand, for getting to ceiling corners, and difficult places, takes far too long to deploy, and is awkward and too long. The cleaner has a nasty 'plasticky' feel - you feel as though you need to handle it gently in case you break it. Yes it's very powerful - if you need to get rid of animal hairs - great. But it is too powerful for cleaning rugs and small bathroom carpets, and also light weight carpets without sucking up the corners, and snapping the belt.
I definitely cannot recommend it and regret having bought it.

Not built to last
Between myself my partner and my sister and my mother we have had a total of 9 DYSONS that have all given up the ghost. Dyson had a good name once no longer in our family we have all gone over to Henry .You will not see any professional cleaning companys using Dyson.

DC24 REVERSIBLE WAND
The reversible wand with its handle is an innovative idea but there are only two positions to adjust its length, minimum or maximum.
No intermediate position is possible which makes the vacuum-cleaner quite uncomfortable to use by a small size person.
It is not even explicitely written in the notice and I had to phone the customer service to discover that.
Another good design blotched by wrong ergonomics - variability in the size of users was forgotten !
I guess that the next version of DC24 will have this corrected should someone at Dyson drawing boards ever bother to read Amazon customer reviews!

Excellent Machine
A well designed and engineered piece of equipment, except for the tools. (Our old DC04 has now been consigned to my workshop, for dust collection duties.) The drawback I have found is the so called combination tool. (Compromises rarely work!) To me it's neither a brush, nor a crevice tool. Fortunately the tools off an old Panasonic cleaner fit the Dyson hose, so I can use that brush over the tops of pictures, books and other high places, and also the crevice tool for tight spots. A great pity the tools off the DC04 do not fit the DC24.

Very good cleaner
This is a very good vacuum, the ball makes it easy to move although needs time to get used to! It is really light and easy to carry. I like the fact that you can retract the handle so it's easy to store. The easy emptying function is brilliant so quick and i haven't yet emptied it on the floor. There are things wrong with it. You really need a thin attachment for edges of carpets etc.The chunky one that comes with it is not good enough and to pay extra for one is not on when the vacuum is expensive. The hose is not long enough, the wire is also not long enough and i only have a 2 bed house but i have to change plug position half way through cause it won't reach round the whole room.The on/off button takes some getting used to you have to hold it down for a few seconds for it to stay on and remember to turn the brushes off if there is any chance of getting anything caught in it like ends of rugs or shoe laces! BUT overall i love it.

Nice design, Cool product, but...
I had great delivery from Amazon. I also want to summarize my experience with the product. I have allergies so I needed a HEPA filter and this vacuum seemed to fit my needs in a small apartment.

Why I liked the Dyson:
Quick next day delivery from Amazon (but I had to pay extra)
Small size
Cool design
Cord does not tangle
HEPA filter works well (however I'm worried that, from the instructions, it may clog too quickly and required manual cleaning instead of just buying a new one).

Why I do not like this product:
Suction is not good (seems like a basic requirement for a vaccum)
Lack of accessories (buying extra tools is very expensive)
When compared to to products I have owned in the past, this is over-priced
Mostly plastic parts that do not always engage (sometimes I try to put it upright and it doesn't lock)
Small container for dirt that needs to be emptied frequently.
Does not feel "sturdy"

Who is this product best for:

I think this product is good for someone who lives in a very small space and no pets. It works well on tile but doesn't always pick up kitchen debris that I think it should.

Compared to vacuums I have bought in the past, this one is very expensive and doesn't have enough suction.

So light to carry upstairs
Dyson DC24 Allfloors - The Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner - Iron Satin Yellow
Splendid machine, such a clever design, great manoeuvrability and suction (that must be comparable to a cylinder machine despite its compact size). Minor downside is that small cylinder obviously requires more frequent emptying but this not such as to be a problem in cleaning 5 bedrooms upstairs. The suction wand is also lighter and easier to use than on the larger upright Dyson that we also have. Improvements? Now if the upright section could go even flatter as to slide further under a bed...... All in all, I doubt if this machine can be bettered anywhere.

superb machine and so easy to use
about the same size as a dyson upright, well made machine with quality plastics used. feels robust like our dyson. comes fully assembled and just needs the tools to be hug on the back of it. i recommend you read the instructions well before use.
to use it is very very simple. fill the top container with warm water and then fill the small container on its side with shampoo. reattach the container and you are ready. you clean the carpet in strips. turn on machine and move it in a straight line forward, as you do this squeeze the trigger on the handle and shampoo/water solution is released on to the carpet (the machine mixes them itself)
because the six spining brushes are scrubbing the carpet you dont have to do much other then move the machine backwards and forwards. you have to move the machine over the same strip of carpet about six times and you only spray shampoo in the first two runs. the rest of the runs are used to scrub the carpet and vacuum up the water. it does leave the carpet almost dry. this machine also has a rinse facility which releases just water onto the carpet. we used this as well to pick up any residue of shampoo which may be left in the carpet.
the results are just as good as a professional machine. milk,food and dried in stuff just disappeared. stubborn stains needed a bit more work.
which meant you leave the brushes over them a bit longer and watch the spin action attack them (not exactly hard work)
the carpet was left to dry overnight as we did this in the evening. but i would think the carpet wouldve dried in 3 to 4 hours and bone dry in 6 to 8.
it also left the carpet pile lifted and fluffy. just like it looked when it was new. it is an expensive carpet with a deep pile and has had a severe thrashing from our 2 toddlers but the machine has restored it to a previous state we thought would never be seen again.

The best carpet washer on the market!!
After reading all the excellent reviews, i decided to buy this product over the Bissell Proheat..........it's absolutely amazing!! Some of the dark stains in my carpet had been there for a few months so didn't really expect them to come out but to my amazement, they've disappeared.

The carpets were left nearly dry to the point that you can't feel any dampness when walking over the area when wearing just socks (so you don't have to clean the carpets just before going out for the day or before going to bed!)

Very easy to use- the Vax has a separate compartment for the detergent(which can stay in situ until the next time you use it) and all you have to do is fill the tank with warm water. The tank snaps back into place with one easy movment then all you have to do at the end, is emty the dirty water tank and empty the unused clean water tank (if any left).

Would recommend to everyone!!!!!

Bought from Amazon as the price was excellent (couldn't even buy a reconditioned one on ebay for this price)have previously hired a karcher carpet cleaner from our local hire shop as we have cream carpets, two dogs and young children, but I finally got one of these for christmas! It's probably very sad that I couldn't wait to get it out of the box, and it was surprsingly easy to assemble, following the instructions enclosed.
V easy to use & cleans much better than the fixed head karcher did - it is noisy, but so's our vax vaccuum cleaner, so am not finding it too bad. It's quite heavy, but certainly not unmanagable - am 8 months pregnant and apart from getting hubby to carry it up & downstairs for me, have had no difficulty in annoying the rest of the family by cleaning all our carpets this weekend (nesting?!) and then chasing them away from the damp carpets - was surprised by how dry it leaves the carpets - the karcher used to leave them very wet, but this leaves them only a little damp and with the heating on they dry out very quickly - which is just as well as my dogs seem to gravitate towards the freshly cleaed carpets... The only fiddly bit I have found is fitting the full clean water tank onto the machine, but you just have to be careful with it.

Excellent!!!
I used these reviews to help me make my decision to buy this cleaner so am adding to them to help others. I have now had it for a week and done 5 rooms. It is heavy but certainly not unmanageable, the rear wheels are quite sufficient for getting it around when not cleaning. The tool storage system could probably have done with a bit more thought as they are not secure really.And it could do with a retractable flex.
I did the hallway first as it is a high traffic area and needed doing, I needed to do it twice to get a very good result. (prior to clening it did not look too bad but afterwards.....!!!!!
It does require a particular technique to get best effect and this is described in the instructions. A full container of clean water (I filled up from hot tap to get a head start) and cleaner solution is more than sufficient to do a large room and dried within an hour. (the winter heating is on)
I am very pleased and Amazon were the cheapest by a big margin.

Dog owners read on...
This is a brilliant machine and I can definitely recommend it. Really easy to use - but make sure you read the instructions first. I have used all of the gadgets but find it easier to store these away from the machine during normal carpet and hard floor cleaning. Having 2 dogs - my carpets and wooden floor were suffering to the extent that we were considering buying new carpets - no need to now they have been revived and look like new again.

Delighted, this is a great iron.
I wasn't sure about the hype surrounding this iron, it promised a lot. But I have been delighted by the results, I've powered through heavy curtains and trousers & jeans are a breeze. All my bed linen is done in super-quick time too. Ironing is a lot more fun since using this as it takes half the time to get through my ironing pile. I fill the water tank each time I start ironing and it lasts me for about 3 loads of washing. I would recommend this steam generator if you have never used one before, I hadn't and I have been really pleasantly surprised.

A Steamy Solution!
I recently got to purchase this iron for the bargain price of £20 as I am a bzzagent, and we get to try out products and spread the word about them. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance of trying it out as it claims to cut down ironing time by 50% and let's face it, time saved ironing can only be a good thing.

The price I paid is a massive discount on the selling prices around the net and on the high street; however after using the iron, I would be willing to pay that price as I am seriously impressed with it. I had seen these irons on the argos site and wondered what was so special about them that they would command a higher than usual price compared to other irons, so this is why I am writing this review as I am sure there's more people out there that would benefit from this product but don't realise as they are put off by the price tag without knowing if it's worth the cost or not.

Let me start by saying that I am not a big fan of ironing most of the time, it's not my most detested chore but who really likes housework?! I thought the iron would be difficult to set up and use, and end up with a lot of fiddling around but it was ready to use in a couple of minutes with the use of the informative manual, it is as simple as filling the tank, turning the iron on and then using it to iron. Apparently the steam is forced into the garment that you are ironing at such a force that it penetrates right into the fabric and pushes the crease out, I'm not so clued up about the technology side of how it works, but I can say that it definitely does work.

This iron has made ironing a much more pleasurable experience for me, mainly because it is really easy to use and really does cut ironing time down. I love the fact that I can hang items up and steam them vertically; this to me is probably the best thing about the iron and definitely its unique selling point. I hate having to iron things horizontally, and then hang them up and then iron something else, and then hang that up as it stops the flow of ironing and feels like I'm stopping and starting different tasks. I can now put the items on hangers in one go, and then steam them all continuously, so is a much easier and more logical way of doing things. It can make your arm ache a bit if you're steaming for a long time, but I guess it's the same as any other iron in that sense, and means you're getting an arm workout in the process.

My mum put an idea into my head by asking if it could be used as a steam cleaner for things like tiles etc, so I thought I'd put it to the test by directing the steam to the front of our oven. It did make the cleaning of the area I'd steamed very easy, but I'm not sure it is as good at doing that sort of thing as a proper steam cleaner. I thought it was worth a mention though as you may find other uses for it by experimenting if I put the idea into your head.

This iron system isn't without fault though, which I shall now go into. I usually sit down and watch TV whilst ironing as it kills 2 birds with one stone, however this iron is very noisy for bursts of time so is not really a viable option for me now as I'd spend more time rewinding on sky+ to hear things I'd missed, so I just stick some music on instead; plus at the moment, I can only use this in the kitchen to iron horizontally which takes me to my next downside. This being that the iron is that it is very bulky and takes up a lot of room both storage wise, and also whilst being used. It does not fit on our normal ironing board and thus I have to have it on the kitchen worktop with the ironing board in front of the worktop. This isn't a deal breaker though as because of this irons design, I am doing a lot of my ironing vertically now, but isn't ideal for the items I need to iron in the conventional manner. I have heard you can get ironing boards that are specifically for this kind of iron but I have no experience of this and for now, I will manage using the system I currently have.

Overall, I have been pleasantly surprised at what a difference this iron has made to my life in such a short space of time. I really didn't think it could have had that much of an impact as I'd always thought an iron was an iron and would never really change in terms of how it worked, but this has been a real revelation and I could not go back to a normal iron now I've had the experience of this one. Yes it costs a bit more, but I think it's worth paying the extra if you want to cut down on time spent ironing and making it a lot easier/more pleasurable.

Well worth the money!
I also got to try this iron through BzzAgent and thought that here would be a good place to share my opinion as I myself always check on Amazon for my product reviews before making a purchase, even if I am buying from elsewhere.

Firstly, I will get the most important statement out of the way - this iron certainly did cut my ironing time down AND make it easier!
I have never tried a steam generator iron before and didn't feel I could justify paying that much money for an iron. Since trying this one however I have been raving to all the ironers I know that they must 'treat' themselves LOL!

I will start with the good points I noted:
I usually iron once a week for the 4 people in my family, which takes about 2.5 hours with my high-end standard Tefal iron. With this I easily get it all done in 1.5 hours and feel less stressed at the end of it!

As stated before, this iron doesn't have a water squirter, but I personally didn't need one using this iron. With my previous iron, I found it very hard to iron jeans and linen items and had to keep spraying water until my thumb ached! With this one, though, I just turned the temperature up to 'high' and used the steam function. The steam button you simply press(like an electronic switch, not a pressure based one that could give you a repetitive strain injury!) for a very impressive amount of steam or if you slide the button at the same time it will lock into the steaming function so that you can continue to iron as normal.
Using the cup supplied, I filled the tank up with 3 cups of water before I started and that lasted me the whole pile.

The narrow front tip of the iron plate made it much easier to get into the corners of shirts and the kids clothes.

The main base of the iron has an on/off switch - such a basic but necessary thing I always wished my previous irons had!

Now the not-so-good points:
The whole unit is quite cumbersome in general (for storing away), though I don't know if it is any more cumbersome than any other steam generator iron. It was more of a chore to store away than its standard-sized predecessor but I had enough cupboard space to accommodate it fine.

I read about the noise of the unit before receiving the iron and was expecting it to be really bad, but - though it is noticeable - I don't think it is at all bad. My (practically scientific) test was that I was doing my ironing in the same room as my Mum-in Law when she was watching TV and she didn't say anything at all about the noise! I could also hear the TV fine so the iron is not so loud that it would interfere with your social life!

The most noticeable problem I had with this iron is that the main power cord should definitely be longer. Where I do the ironing in my house, i may consider getting a small extension lead but it isn't a necessity at the moment.

Well I hope that I have converted anyone reading this to the steam generator club and resolved any doubts you may have had so GO FOR IT!

Really does cut ironing time in half!
I am a Bzz agent and was lucky enough to be offered one of these beauties to test. Having never tried this type of iron, I was a little unsure of what to expect.
So it came as a complete surprise how utterly marvellous this iron is.
I wear a lot of heavyweight cotton sateen skirts which are full, this iron made it seem as aeasy as getting creases out of a tea towel. All of my hard to iron linen trousers were ironed in one swipe from top to bottom: no need to turn them over to do the other side.

On the more critical side, this is a large unit so storage was a bit of an issue, plus it is noisy in use. But weighing these things up against the amount of time saved it's a definite must own. I have recommended this to all of my friends......it is worth every penny.

It Would Be Cheap at Twice The Price
I got to try this iron as being a buzzagent I get to try out certain things and tell people what I think of it. Hence create a buzz about the item.
So What can I say about this iron apart from "I Love It".
I am now a new man - A convert to ironing.
My wife and I have argued before about ironing but never with us both actually wanting to do it!!!!!
The iron is light weight easy and quick to use. When you open the box you are at first struck by how impressive the iron looks. A quick step instruction leaflet means that you are ready to iron in minutes.
This iron generates a great amount of steam and at first this is daunting for anyone who is used to only using a standard iron.
But it soon becomes evident that this steam only enhances and speeds up the ironing process. The steam generated enables the item to be ironed both sides simultaneously and so significantly reducing ironing time. The steam also means that the iron cuts through creases in no time and with very little effort.
The whole pile of ironing is done quickly and effortlessly.
I know this all sounds too good to be true but take it from me, a male who hated ironing and considered it a woman's chore, this really is a top class product.
Just to prove that everything isn't perfect there is one minor niggle. The fact that the iron doesn't lock onto the base can be a hindrance when moving the iron and storing it.
To sum up I would say there may be better irons on the market but not at this price and I for one would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone!!!
